Vice President for Enrollment Management

Indiana State University seeks applications and nominations for an exceptional individual to serve as Vice President for Enrollment Management. The University seeks a visionary leader to help the institution continue to build on the increased new enrollment that has occurred in the past two years.

Since its establishment in 1865, Indiana State University (ISU) has consistently upheld its respected reputation as an all-inclusive, state-assisted public university offering bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Indiana State is in the heart of downtown Terre Haute, a city of 60,000 residents sitting 15 miles from the state line of Illinois and along the Interstate 70 corridor.

As of the fall of 2023, Indiana State University’s total headcount was 8,305, including 1,568 full- time first-year students. This number reflects a two percent increase, contributing to a 10% growth in the first-year class over the past two years. Notably, 2023 welcomed the highest number of international students and the largest international student population since 2017, representing 40 countries. Fall enrollment included students from 43 states.

Indiana State is committed to developing a campus of inclusive excellence to ensure everyone feels appreciated, respected, valued, and welcome. Of the student population, 68% identify as white and 28.4% as Asian, Black, Hispanic/Latino, indigenous, or people of color, about 50% are first-generation students, and 46% are Pell-eligible. Of incoming first-year students, 22% were enrolled in the Honors College.

The Vice President for Enrollment Management will report directly to Indiana State’s newly appointed President, Dr. Mike Godard, serve as a member of the President's Cabinet, work closely with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and maintain strong partnerships with institutional research, academic deans, faculty, staff, coaches, and other administrative leaders. The VPEM, a newly elevated cabinet level role, will provide vision and strategic direction for undergraduate and graduate (including international) admissions, financial aid, student scholarships, and enrollment marketing, including close and regular work with the University’s external marketing and recruiting partners.

The VPEM is responsible for leading a team of more than 50 full-time professionals in maintaining a comprehensive strategic plan for increasing enrollment, refining university marketing, and enhancing brand awareness and reputation. The VPEM will build upon recent new enrollment success and achieve goals related to advancing the institution's image among key constituents that include prospective students, parents, influencers, alumni, donors, local, state, and national officials, the general public, and others. The VPEM will also serve as the primary point of university contact with Indiana State’s external marketing firm and other constituent partners and will have the opportunity to re-envision the organization and functions of the Enrollment Management division, including how the leadership team works with other units at ISU and beyond.
